[Before & After] A Blue Door Home Story

My clients, Armando and Isilda, have been such great people to work with and just watching them breathe new life into old homes has been such a pleasure. So much so, I wanted to share it with you! This rancher in Baltimore County is the fifth home on which I've seen them work their renovation magic. And by now, I know that it has nothing to do with magic.

Instead, the real "magic" is the talent, hard work and heart that they pour into the homes they restore.

For this house, Armando completely redesigned and rebuilt it to fit the needs of the modern homeowner.

They bought the home in October 2019. The "before" pictures give you a sense of how desperately this house needed a determined someone to come in and completely transform the place. And it has been transformed! The pictures themselves tell a great story.

The Process

The Exterior

This house is altogether new. New roof, new windows, new doors, new HVAC. Check out that curb appeal now!

The backyard was, quite honestly, a junkyard before they started. They also tore out the overgrown shrubs and brush to reveal beautiful trees and a large, flat, fully-fenced backyard.

They also put in a paved driveway with easy access to both the front and backdoor

As we move to the interior of the home, the fact that the house has been fundamentally rebuilt will be perfectly clear as soon as you open the front door.

The Living Room

Besides the obvious problems that Armando fixed in this space (like the caved in floor and broken entry). He also turned this formerly tiny living room into a large open concept living space that flows naturally into the kitchen area. There is new engineered wood flooring throughout the entire home and many possibilities to make use of all the space.

The Kitchen

Originally, the back addition was disjointed, leaving the whole place feeling fragmented without flow. But now the house feels bright, open and airy.

The kitchen feels smoothly connected to the living space, while also having plenty of space all to itself. It has all new stainless steel appliances and beautiful granite counter tops. Are you sick of me saying "new" yet? The pictures don't do justice to the freshness of the kitchen. The cabinets are a beautiful classic gray with a pale blue glass back-splash. The space allows for flexibility for the new homeowner to add a large kitchen table or island, depending on their needs.

The Bedrooms

The house started out with three bedrooms and one bathroom. The bedrooms were tiny and had practically no closet space. But now, with the resign and rebuild, the house has three spacious bedrooms with plenty of closet space, including a master bedroom en-suit and walk-in closet.

Master Bedroom

From mildew coated books to utterly luxurious!

2nd and 3rd Bedrooms

The other two bedrooms are both a good size with nice closet space as well.

The Main Bathroom

The bathroom needed a ton of work, as you can see. But now it is tasteful, modern and, of course, new!

The Laundry Room

To be perfectly honest, there was no laundry room, but now their is a good size laundry room easy access to the rest of the room. Additionally there's a nice new hot water heater.

Armando's signature is the tasteful blue door that he paints each home he renovates. Doesn't it just warmly welcome you home?

So that’s the grand tour! It is a completely new home that is going to make the new homeowners very happy.
